Mentoring for Executive Assistants and Chiefs of Staff

1:1 career guidance from someone who's done the job, not someone who's read about it. Practical, honest mentoring for admin professionals who want to grow.

You Don't Have to Figure This Out Alone

Being an Executive Assistant can be incredibly isolating. You're often the only one in your role. You don't have peers who understand the specific pressures you face. You can't always talk openly to your boss about the fact that your boss is the problem. And most career advice out there isn't designed for people in admin roles, it assumes you have a clear ladder to climb, a team to manage, and a job description that doesn't change every five minutes.

That's why mentoring specifically for admin professionals matters. Not generic life coaching. Not a one-size-fits-all programme. Personalised guidance from someone who understands the role from the inside, someone who's navigated the same challenges you're facing now.

About Meg

Meg Steinschauer is the founder of Connected Assistants and a former Executive Assistant and Chief of Staff with over 15 years of experience supporting C-suite leaders. She's worked in fast-paced, high-pressure environments and has firsthand experience with every challenge you're likely to face, from managing difficult stakeholders to wondering whether this career is actually going anywhere.

Meg built Connected Assistants because she saw how little practical support existed for admin professionals who wanted to grow. She now works with EAs and Chiefs of Staff around the world through 1:1 mentoring, coaching programmes, and live training events.

When you book a session with Meg, you're not getting textbook advice. You're getting practical guidance from someone who's been in your shoes, understands the nuance of your role, and won't waste your time with vague platitudes.

What We Can Work On Together

Every session is tailored to what you need. There's no fixed curriculum, you bring the challenge, and we work through it together. That said, the most common topics include:

Career direction and planning

Figuring out what you actually want and how to get there. Whether that's staying in your current role and making it bigger, transitioning to Chief of Staff, or moving into something entirely new.

Managing up

Building a more effective working relationship with your executive. Navigating difficult personalities, communicating your value, and influencing without authority.

Setting boundaries

Learning to say no (or "not like that") without damaging relationships. Protecting your time and energy without being labelled as "difficult."

Building executive presence

Showing up with confidence in rooms where you're the most junior person. Speaking up, being heard, and being taken seriously.

Navigating workplace politics

Understanding the unwritten rules, building the right relationships, and advancing your career without playing games.

Dealing with specific situations

A difficult conversation you need to have, a restructure that's affecting your role, a new executive who doesn't understand what you do, a promotion you've been passed over for. Bring the problem, and we'll work through it.

Is Mentoring Right for You?

Mentoring is a good fit if:

You have a specific challenge or question you want to work through with someone who understands admin roles. You're feeling stuck in your career and want clarity on your next move. You're preparing for a difficult conversation, a career transition, or a new role and want guidance. You want honest feedback, not just encouragement.

Mentoring might not be the best fit if:

You're looking for someone to tell you what to do. Mentoring is a partnership, Meg will challenge you, give you perspective, and help you think through options, but the decisions are yours. If you're looking for step-by-step instructions, our online courses or the Clarity Sprint might be a better starting point.
